What The World Thinks Of America
If you click on the link at the bottom of this page, you will see a study conducted by
the Pew Research Group. It shows a very sad picture of the way the world
looks at our country. Of course the administration of George Bush has
greatly influenced this. However, it is a long-standing problem. We simply
aren’t very well liked.
As an American, I’m greatly offended at this, because we are a
kind and generous people. We have been the beacon of hope for the free
world for many years. America stood up to the Soviet Empire…where
was the rest of the world?
So, although they have built wonderful societies that have passed us
by in many areas…they have done so at our expense. Perhaps we do
need to look at ourselves, and seek improvements in many of the criteria
mentioned in the UN Study.
However, let us do so in part by making the world pay their fair share
for our Military protection. This will allow our citizens to share in
some of the benefits enjoyed by their societies.
Since we aren’t well loved, I do suggest here and elsewhere that
we review foreign aid programs, and help our citizens first. If foreign
aid bought us love, I might reconsider. However, reviewing the Pew Research
report shows otherwise!
